New technologies were discouraged in my prior work place. We were having problems with our data network this activated a deeper level of curiosity. So I found a new technology to add to our network that would solve the problem. Although they were still reluctant, I tried to show how the solution would work. The reason why they resisted is because they knew nothing of the technology or how the product worked.
I decided to conduct a training session with "hands on" application with the product. After the class was completed they were all willing to deploy the product in the network. They also gain confidence that they could successfully manage the new network component.
The application of Kellers (1984) attention, relevence, confidence and satisfaction (ARCS) motivation model solved a major problem. They were satisfied with the new product and the end users of the network were also satisfied.
