Val Connectivism Mind Map

Blogged to Carol Lee (carollee387.blogspot.com) and Sherry Breeden (sbreeden71.blogspot.com)

My network has changed the way I learn by placing my connections into specific categories. For example, based on my mindmap image there are 4 areas that I connect to. They are chat rooms, alerts, subscriptions and information requests.

The alerts and subscriptions are daily and notify me of changes in the environment, events or academic community.

The subscriptions are daily, weekly or monthly and inform of changes in the technical and professional community, such as the IEEE subscription.

The chat rooms enable viable discussions to take place concerning academic issues or topic.

The information requests tools that I use include Ask.com, About.com, Wikipedia, and Google Scholar. I will receive some information based on a conversation and decide to research the topic further. The way that I learn new knowledge is by having conversations with some inner circle of teachers and by using Ask.com, About.com and Google Scholar. I will also use Google Earth if I need information that is geographical based. If I did not have these digital information resources paper would be every where.
